The duo was formed in the early part of 2000 in Toronto. Their unique sound met enthusiastic response amongst the coffee shop set. They relocated to Vancouver in September of 2002 upon Maria Cristina’s acceptance into the Masters of Operatic Performance program at UBC.

In Toronto In Blue River performed regularly at a number of venues including The Tranzac Club, Holy Joe’s, Oasis, The Free Times Café, and Graphitti’s. In the summer of 2001 they played a one off at the Rose and Thistle Pub in St. John’s Newfoundland and were among the featured performers at the Newmarket Mainstreet Folk and Blues Festival 2001 in Newmarket, Ontario.
